Integrated supply chain
SAP provides us with an integrated process across the entire supply chain. We are seeing the first results in the form of new replenishment processes in our distribution centers. One of the advantages of the cloud is speed and innovation. We can use new functions immediately after they are released, which will speed up our implementation," says Thomas Vielhauer, Head of IT Merchandise Management Processes at Coop.
SAP Predictive Replenishment optimizes order proposals based on various data sources, ensuring optimal inventory levels in warehouses. Order cycles are determined based on SAP Order and Delivery Scheduling.
Our planners can now review automatically generated and data-driven orders. Viewing only exceptions saves a lot of time, which they can use for more complex tasks. Synchronized order schedules help us plan all logistics activities together to optimally deliver our products to the stores at the right time and in the most efficient way possible. Using the same data in all systems is a huge advantage, adds Melanie Reimann, Head of Goods Flow Control at COOP.
Restocking stores
SAP and COOP have long been collaborating on innovative projects. Another joint development project implemented in COOP stores is SAP Replenishment Planning, which is designed for cost-effective replenishment of stores. Implementation, together with a unified demand forecast component based on machine learning, has already resulted in higher sales, reduced waste and supports COOP's sustainability mission.
COOP plans to expand the project to additional product categories and integrate store and distribution center replenishment using aggregated store order forecasts. This will enable even more advanced supply chain planning.
"The FMCG supply chain is a complex network covering production, distribution and retail. At all these stages (demand, production and logistics), manufacturers and retailers encounter disruptions that they must quickly and effectively remove so that the goods can reach end customers with the appropriate dynamics. Tracking inventory levels in real time allows for effective management," sums up Adam Adamczyk, Head of Digital Supply Chain, SAP CEE.
