Russian gas giant Gazprom is planning to cut the number of employees at its headquarters in St Petersburg by almost 40 percent, to cut costs and improve decision making , Bloomberg announces.

According to a letter from Elena Ilyukhina , Director-General of the Deputy Director to Alexei Miller, dated December 23 , Gazprom is intending to reduce the number of employees at its headquarters from more than 4,100 to a smaller 2,500. True, some employees may be transferred to other divisions of the concert or second companies .

The Final Decision will be made by Gazprom . If the Common Plan is approved, then, as reported in the press, by 15 February the company’s head officials will submit detailed proposals for implementation.

The job reduction proposal was made in that year when Gazprom, once the largest supplier of natural gas to Europe,revenues have significantly declined. Cause – the loss of cooperation with clients from the region following the invasion of Ukraine.

In 2023 , Gazprom recorded the first annual gross decline in twenty four years . From this month the start of the stopped gas flow to Europe through Ukraine will still more impact sales, while the company and further increases exports to alternative markets, such as China and Central Asia.
