Natural gas prices, which have been rising in Europe since late February, began to decline in July on the Dutch TTF gas market. According to energy expert Marco Allikson, if this drop turns out to be permanent, it will also reach Estonian consumers, writes ERR .

However, Estonian gas sellers are in no hurry to reduce prices. Following yesterday's ERR article, Eesti Gaas today announced a reduction in the price of gas sold to consumers in August . The new price will be 11 percent lower than in July, or 52.5 cents per cubic meter.

According to Allikson, lower gas prices on the Dutch market mean lower prices for Estonian consumers as well.

Kalvi Nõu, chairman of the board of Alexela, told ERR yesterday that they are waiting for the trend to consolidate in order to decide on a price reduction. But what does it mean?

“Customers will be informed about changes in gas prices at least 30 days in advance. This means that no later than the end of July we will know what the price will be in the changing package for September. If the market does not turn upward during this time, the price in September will be lower than in July and August,” Alexela CEO Kalvi Nõu told Postimees, answering the question of when Estonian consumers expect gas prices to decrease.
