Forecasts for the piglet market
As Jakub Dorożyński, sales specialist from PH Konrad, emphasizes, further reductions may appear on the weaner market in the near future.
– Maybe it will happen next week, or maybe in two weeks, but I think that the weaners will still have to stand, because there are very large differences between contract prices and free market prices. They already reach PLN 40 or even PLN 50, which suggests that there may be further price reductions for weaners. The availability of animals for fattening is really high, so the Danes are lowering prices quite significantly on the free market – in the last month they have dropped in some cases by as much as PLN 100. However, I hope that the market will return to balance soon, says Dorożyński.

In the case of domestic weaners, almost all surveyed sales points decided to offer discounts (from PLN 10 to PLN 30/piece).
According to the results of our weekly survey, rates for domestically produced weaners weighing 20 kg currently average PLN 392/piece. net, i.e. by PLN 13/pcs. net less than a week earlier. Prices of weaners in this mass range from PLN 370 to PLN 420/piece. net.
In turn, domestic weaners weighing 30 kg cost on average PLN 486/piece. net, i.e. PLN 14/pcs. net less than last week. Their prices range from PLN 470 to PLN 530/pcs. net.

How much do imported weaners cost (28/06/2024)?
In turn, in the case of imported piglets, all surveyed sales points decided to reduce prices (from PLN 10 to PLN 30/piece).
Weaner pigs imported from Denmark are currently valued at an average of PLN 463/piece. net, i.e. by PLN 23/pcs. net less than last week. Their prices range from PLN 390 to PLN 504/piece. net. The prices given are for weaners weighing 30 kg.
