The past week in Lithuania was marked by a continuing decline in average fuel prices: petrol fell by 0.8%, diesel fuel by 0.6%, the portal rus.delfi.lt reports, citing the Lithuanian Energy Agency (LEA). Fuel is also getting cheaper in Latvia. However, prices are not changing in Estonia. According to the agency, since mid-July, the average price of petrol in the country has fallen by 4%, diesel fuel by 4.9%. As of August 26, diesel fuel in Lithuania cost an average of 1.39 euros per litre, while petrol cost an average of 1.44 euros per litre. According to the LEA, a decline in fuel prices is also observed in other EU countries. Over the week, average fuel prices have fallen in almost all of the compared Baltic and neighbouring countries, with the exception of Estonia. The price of fuel in this country has not changed. According to LAE, the average petrol prices in Estonia and Latvia are currently 1.67 euros per litre and 1.60 euros per litre, respectively, while diesel costs 1.50 euros per litre and 1.54 euros per litre, respectively. "The gradual price reduction that can be observed at petrol stations over the past few weeks is related to the decline in oil and fuel prices on world markets due to stabilisation in the Middle East," Virši-A Chairman of the Board Jānis Viba noted earlier. According to the agency, fuel prices in the EU have been falling for the fifth week in a row: diesel and petrol have fallen by 1.2% in a week.
