A large chain of multi-brand sports goods stores, JD Sports, will open its first store in Latvia in the fall. It will be located in the Akropole Alfa shopping center. JD Sports was founded in 1981 in the UK. Now it operates in 29 countries around the world – from Europe to Asia. In 2021, the first JD Sports stores appeared in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe – Poland, Romania and Hungary. Four stores of the chain operate in Lithuania (three in Vilnius, one in Klaipeda). The JD Sports chain currently operates 3,400 retail outlets. In the fall, the first store of the chain will be opened in Riga. The store will feature products from brands such as Adidas, Nike, New Balance, Pink Soda Sport, McKenzie, The North Face, Jordan, Converse, HOODRICH and so on. JD Sports not only offers permanent collections of sporting goods (shoes, apparel and accessories), but also limited edition products. “We are pleased that we will be able to offer our visitors an even wider selection of sporting goods and become a starting point for this chain of stores on the road to further development in Latvia,” Akropole Alfa director Sanita Kriege said in a media release.
