A Riga court has sentenced three former employees of Maxima Latvija to suspended prison terms and fines for extorting a bribe from a food producer and for laundering criminal proceeds.

According to the Latvian news agency Leta, the former head of the company, Janis Šenfelds, and two former employees, Aleksandrs Ivanovs and Jevgenijs Žernovs, were convicted, the Latvian national television company LSM reports.
