Foreigners living in Estonia have begun to actively sell their real estate. The reason for this is mainly the geopolitical situation. As Igor Khabal, head of the real estate agency Uus Maa, said, foreigners have long been selling more than they are buying. “The exception is Ukrainians, whose purchasing activity has increased significantly against the backdrop of the events of recent years,” he added. If in 2021 residents of Ukrainian origin in Estonia bought real estate worth 1 million euros, then in 2023 the total value of the real estate they purchased was already 3.6 million euros. Habal adds that since 2019, foreigners in Estonia have sold real estate worth 556 million euros, and bought 438 million euros. “The largest sellers are Finns and Russians, and the main reason is the growth of geopolitical risks in our region,” he notes.
