In June 2024, 3.6 million liters of beer in kegs were imported into Russia, which means an increase of 18% compared to the previous year, writes Kommersant with reference to data from CRPT (operator of the Chestny Znak labeling system) and NielsenIQ.

An increase in beer imports was also noted in the country's retail chains. Analysts have recorded an increase in the range and volume of foreign products in stores. According to the NielsenIQ report, over the past year the share of foreign products in the sales structure increased from 5.5% to 6.8%, and the share of licensed products (produced in Russia under foreign brands) increased from 31.6% to 32.5%.
CRPT analysts also noted an increase in beer supplies to the Russian Federation from the EAEU countries by 29% and from other countries by 16%. In addition, beer sales in physical terms showed an increase of 28% in the category of foreign products and by 11% in the category of licensed products. This indicates a recovery in demand for imported beer among consumers in Russia.
Beer supplies from the European Union to Russia are also showing positive dynamics. In April, 26.7 thousand tons of beer were imported, which is 15% more than a year earlier. However, during the period January-April there was a decrease of 9.1%, to 89.17 thousand tons.
According to NielsenIQ experts, one of the reasons for the recovery in beer imports is an increase in consumer demand and, as a result, the emergence of a request for a wider representation of such goods on store shelves.
