Footasylum has strengthened its leadership team by hiring former Under Armour executive Will Van Rensburg as chief commercial officer and ex-Reebok product chief Glen Wilkinson as senior buying director.
Van Rensburg, who joined last month from Clarks, brings nearly eight years of experience from Under Armour, where he was global commercial director from 2020 to 2023. He will oversee commercial operations and drive the sportswear retailer’s growth strategy.
Wilkinson will start later this month, working with chief product officer Leon Mullin. He has held senior roles at Ecco, Reebok, and New Balance, and most recently was head of buying and merchandising at Italian sporting retailer AW Lab.
New CEO David Pujolar said: “I am delighted to welcome Will and Glen to the business. Their extensive experience across a range of companies and geographies will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our position in the market.
“Together, they will help drive our growth strategy and enhance our product offerings, ensuring that Footasylum remains at the forefront of the fashion streetwear and sportswear industry.”
Last week, Footasylum secured a £35m funding package from HSBC to fuel its expansion and sustainability initiatives across the UK and beyond.
It came as the retailer more than doubled pre-tax profit thanks to the opening and upsizing of stores. It posted a 112% surge in pre-tax profit to £6m in the year to 27 January, up from £2.8m.
