Food stoppage. Where did the products come from?
According to information provided to Wirtualna Polska by the Inspectorate, the following were issued during that time:
36 decisions (for 39 batches) prohibiting the introduction of agri-food products to the market; 2 protocols of non-compliance with European Union marketing standards for fresh fruit and vegetables (for 3 batches).
The lion's share of decisions concerned goods originating from Ukraine (18). In addition, Moldova (4), Armenia (3), Myanmar (3), the USA (2), Egypt, Vietnam, China, Serbia, Russia and India (one decision each).
What products did the decisions made by IJHARS concern?
According to IJHARS, the most frequently questioned were:
- frozen fruits from Ukraine – 7 decisions out of 7 batches due to the presence of spoiled fruits with mold and a color unusual for raspberry fruits (in 5 batches), the presence of conglomerates (in 3 batches), the presence of insect larvae (in 2 batches);
- cereals from Ukraine (buckwheat, millet) – 7 decisions for 7 batches, due to the presence of live pests (in 7 batches) and a noticeable chemical smell (in 2 batches);
- ice cream from Ukraine – 2 decisions out of 4 batches due to incorrect labelling;
- wine from Moldova – 4 decisions for 4 batches due to incorrect labelling;
- carbonated soft drinks from Armenia – 3 decisions for 3 batches due to incorrect labelling
Raspberries from Ukraine turned back at the border
In recent days, irregularities have once again been revealed in the inspection of fruit from Ukraine. A batch of frozen raspberries, this time weighing 21,000 kg, was stopped at the border due to the unusual color of the fruit and mold visible in many places.
