– The flood in our region has most affected the areas of the Nysa, Prudnik and Brzesko counties. At the moment, we are still collecting data related to losses among livestock. However, we have not received any signals that animals have died on large farms. We do not yet have full knowledge of how it looks with smaller herds, however, as we hear from district veterinarians and district crisis management centers, the situation is under control. Of course, there were floods on farms, and there were also major problems in providing animals with sufficient amounts of drinking water, but at the moment the situation is under control – said Bartłomiej Kulka, provincial veterinarian in Opole, in an interview with our editorial office.

He added that the fate of farmers from Brzesko County, which is still struggling with the flood wave, is still uncertain.
Our interlocutor also referred to the functioning of the Veterinary Inspection authorities in the flooded areas.
– At present, employees in all counties are performing their duties, however, they are working on an ad hoc basis – among other things, planned farm inspections have been suspended. Currently, the tasks of the Veterinary Inspection employees include collecting information on losses, but also cooperation with crisis management centers, e.g. in the event of the need to dispose of carrion – said Bartłomiej Kulka.
