As many as 20 firefighters from the State Fire Service and Volunteer Fire Department in the Gorzów poviat were sent to extinguish the fire on a farm in Glinik, Deszczno commune, Lubusz Voivodeship. July 17 this year about At 10 a warehouse fire was noticed there.
On site, it turned out that the fire was in the hall where straw bales, hay, rapeseed grain and agricultural machinery were collected. Hay silage for cattle stored in silos nearby was also on fire.
Firefighters managed to evacuate all the equipment stored under the shelter in time. Thanks to the use of machines available on site, a significant part of the collected agricultural produce was removed and the steel structure of the warehouse roof was defended. "Due to the amount of material and the nature of its storage, it was necessary to systematically introduce the extinguishing agent into individual layers of the landfill." – we read in the report of the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Gorzów Wielkopolski.
Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control after 2.5 hours of action, but it took many more hours to extinguish the smoldering straw and silage. "20 fire vehicles from both the State Fire Service and the Volunteer Fire Department from the Gorzów district participated in the activities. The causes of the fire will be determined by the relevant services." – says the Gorzów fire brigade headquarters. Losses are also being estimated.
