Finnish public operator of network Fingrid warns, that damage to the electric cable Estlink 2 could cause outages in electricity in conditions of cold and
windless winter weather, reports Yle.
According to Fingrid, in normal winter days the electricity supply is usually sufficiently stable, if power plants and transmission lines operate normally, but on very cold and windless days electricity may not be available.
The System Manager Fingrid Tuomas Rauhala noted that in such conditions it is especially important to flexible consumption – i.e. people and companies should be preparedtoreducetheconsumptionofelectricitywhennecessary.
