Unemployment in Finland has risen significantly this year, reaching 8.3 percent. The situation is not so rosy in Estonia either, where the unemployment rate is 7.4 percent.
Despite talk of a possible economic recovery in Finland, unemployment figures remain high. In June this year, the unemployment rate in Finland was 8.3 percent. The average for 2023 in Finland was 7.2 percent.
With this unemployment rate, Finland is among the leaders in the EU. Only Spain (11.5 percent) and Greece (9.6 percent) have a higher unemployment rate. In Sweden, the unemployment rate is also 8.3 percent, while in Lithuania and Latvia, the rates are 8.2 and 6.7 percent, respectively.
