Money from the EU agricultural budget will go not to farmers, but to Ukraine?
– "Give as much as you can, take as much as you need" (Socrates) … the idea of taking money from farmers and giving it to farms in the UA seems like an idea straight from hell. The UA is not a member of the EU, agriculture in Ukraine has a different structure than ours, there are different requirements for environmental protection and animal welfare, and in addition, Ukrainian goods contributed to the decrease in the profitability of production in the EU, the consequences of which are still felt today. So how can one come up with the idea of taking money from farmers and giving it to "our competition"??? – commented on the article one of the readers of the farmer.pl portal.
– The EC wants to support competition that is dangerous to agriculture? This is some kind of sad joke – wrote another.
– Every kind of support for Ukraine is needed. Even if we were to contribute something, incur some costs, it would be really worth it. Ukrainians defend us against Russia. The blind and petty do not know this! – wrote another reader, Mr. Jerzy Stawiński.
The EU cannot afford to lose food security
Grzegorz Majewski from the Young Farmers Movement also commented on the article published on farmer.pl via TikTok:
– As farmers, we are now in the period of the most intensive field work. We have harvested our crops, we are cultivating the fields, we are already sowing the first plants for the next season and instead of focusing on the work that is most important to us now, we have to constantly observe the actions of the government. And not only the national government, but also the European government. We have received information that the European Union is reducing the CAP budget by PLN 400 million. In a rather uncertain time, at a time when we are struggling with difficult weather and political situations and at a time when our European agriculture is trying to forcefully make it more eco-friendly through absurd regulations, thus increasing production costs, they are adding to our budget reduction for the CAP – says Grzegorz Majewski from RMF.

Is this another step towards the extinction of agriculture in Europe? 🤔 It is surprising that EU officials are still unable to learn from the mistakes of the past. The pandemic has already shown how important agriculture is in each country, when supply chains were interrupted and what the consequences were. Now, when the eastern border is raging war, all the more reason to support domestic agriculture. Not everything can be imported! 🚜 Polish farmers are deeply concerned about this whole situation. The common agricultural policy is one of the foundations of our existence. If we do not manifest our opposition now, tomorrow we may no longer be here. Interestingly, there are rumors that this money is to be transferred to Ukrainian farmers. We would just like to remind you that Ukraine is not in the EU and their products do not meet our standards. Is this another blow to Polish and European farmers, under the guise of aid? Time will tell! ⏳" The text was prepared by Piotr Kisiel
The farmer reminds in the recording that the CAP is intended to ensure food security, but also in the context of the security of food production by farmers in the face of changing climatic conditions.
– But what did the EU decide? – Majewski points out. – The EU decided to reduce the budget by 400 million euros and most likely allocate it to help Ukraine. We would understand if it was military, humanitarian aid, but it could just as well be agricultural aid only for a country that does not belong to the EU, which, despite being immersed in war, floods the EU with products that do not meet our requirements, products that are not safe and ultimately end up on our table – states the farmer.
And he adds: – As for us, the branch is being cut off once again.
What will be the consequences of this?
– We may wake up at a time when there is not enough food production in Europe. And what will we do? We will import it. Will it be cheap? No. Will it be safe? Also no. Will it be logical? Absolutely not. Where will we get it from? Probably from Ukraine. Probably from outside the entire EU. How will this relate to the assumptions of the Green Deal? – asks Grzegorz Majewski.
In his opinion, the EU cannot afford to lose food security in the current geopolitical and climatic situation.
– Cutting the funds that guarantee this security is absolutely illogical, dangerous and we – as farmers – absolutely do not agree with this. Once again, our activities are being hindered and once again the entire society is being exposed to food shortages. To expensive food and, above all, poor quality. We – as the Young Farmers Movement – completely disagree with this – summed up the farmer from RMF.
Funds for the promotion of European agriculture have also been cut.
Let us recall that in 2025 half of the money for the Promotion Funds of European agriculture will also disappear. These funds are also to be transferred to Ukraine. Farmer.pl wrote about it in the article below:
