Chief economist Luminor Eesti Lenno Uusküla calculated, that tax increases in 2025 will take away from the average Estonian family an amount equivalent to

the average monthly wage.

Although finding the really average people is difficult, Uuskula based his calculations on a family, in both parents receive the average wage, and also have two children. “The average median wage in this year could reach about about 1700 euros, if the expected 6 percent increase. This means that the net wage will be 1370 euros, including contributions to the second pension stage. So, the annual income of this family would be 32,860,860 euros,” Uuskula said.

According to his calculations, the increase in income taxes will take the median wage of 27 euros per month. For two adults this would be 54 euros per month, or 650 euros per year. Last year the average family received a tax benefit for two children in 1848 euros, which allowed they to recover 370 euros. But this year there will be no such returns.
