EUR 11 million to open two discount stores

The Lidl chain opened two stores in Portugal (Sintra–Mem Martins and Vieira de Leiria), investing as much as PLN 11 million.

The first facility cost the chain EUR 5 million. In addition to building the store, the chain invested in the modernization of the surrounding streets. The store has 1,300 sq m. sales area. The facility has wide, comfortable aisles; raised ceiling and glass facade. The store includes, among others: bakery department, bread slicer or juice squeezing machine.

The store is equipped with LED lighting and solar panels. There are charging stations for electric cars in the parking lot. The store employed over 30 people.

The construction of the second store cost EUR 6 million. 29 people work there. The store design is consistent with the company's latest design line. The emphasis was on simplicity and efficiency. The facility has a sales room with an area of 1,300 sq m. and offers the same amenities as its counterpart at Sintra–Mem Martins.

The history of the Lidl brand dates back to 1930. Then, the Lidl&Schwarz KG wholesaler was founded in Neckarsulm, Germany. Lidl has been operating in Poland since 2002.
