Today, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications submitted a draft law for approval, according to which the functions of the state conciliator will be transferred to the Chancellor of Justice .
A state mediator is an independent official who helps resolve collective labor disputes. The state mediator is approached by associations or unions of workers and employers when there is a risk of a violation of labor peace if an agreement cannot be reached during negotiations. The state mediator tries to help the two parties reach an agreement.
According to the Minister of Economic Affairs and Industry Erkki Keldo (Reform Party), the transfer of the functions of the state conciliator to the Chancellor of Justice will improve the quality and efficiency of resolving collective labour disputes due to the greater capacity of the Chancellor of Justice and his office.
