Instead of further tax increases, the tax-free minimum should be reduced to 200 euros and indexation should be frozen for a year, entrepreneur Enn Veskimägi said on Vikerraadio. Ann Veskimägi, Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Furniture Manufacturers' Union. Photo: Madis Veltman
Instead of further tax increases, the tax-free minimum should be reduced to 200 euros and indexation should be frozen for a year, entrepreneur Ann Veskimägi said on Vikerraadio .
“I talked about this topic with many entrepreneurs. My opinion is that one of the most painless solutions would actually be to reduce the tax-free minimum. Now this minimum seems to be 654 euros, but they want to raise it to 700. If, for example, we reduce it to 200 for one year, this will bring 800 million euros,” Veskimägi said.
“And the second thing I would propose, but it’s difficult to convince politicians of this, is a freeze on indexation,” he added.
Every year, pensions and salaries of senior civil servants are indexed depending on increases in tax revenues and the cost of living.
