The acquisition of Delfood by Delhaize has raised concerns among employees of seven hypermarkets Cora in Belgium, now one of the few other part of Louis Delhaize Group. Trade unionists are fearful of mass releases.

Silence fires fear of workers hypermarkets

In mass as group Louis Delhaize continues liquidation by selling Delfood, the future of the remaining seven hypermarkets Cora and their staff is becoming more uncertain. According to the union SetCa management Louis Delhaize is restrained, when it comes to the future of the network – read on retaildetail.eu.

Informal channels we have learned, that the group intends to completely or partially divest hypermarkets – said representatives of unionists to Belgian journal La Libre.

Restructuring is underway

Since 2015 the group has passed several stages of restructuring. In last years the stores Belgian Match and Delitraiteur were sold to Colruyt, when other operations – in France, Luxembourg and Romania – were purchased by other retailers, including Carrefour. – It always is so same. When decisions are made, the employees are suffering – uboled by the union.

The union warns, that not only 2thousandemployeesCory are at risk,butalsothousandsofjobsincommercial centers,inwhichthehypermarketsare located.
