As the Department of Statistics reported on Friday, the increase in the number of tourists, which began in October last year, continued and in November. Statistics of placement, published by the Department Statistics, shows that the number of tourists in November increased by 11 percent compared with November last year. “A positive moment is that the number of foreign tourists increased by 15 percent compared with the same period of the last year. “The number of domestic tourists increased by eight percent,” Eamets noted.
“If we look at the county statistics, it is interesting to observe the dynamics of the number of tourists at the time when Estonia actually doesn’t have a tourist season. If looking at the statistics of the location sector, the number of people, stopping in Tallinn from Estonia, and from abroad, the number of people staying in Tallinn has increased by 12.5 and 16.6 percent respectively. Let’s compare November of last year with theNovember 2023″, Eamets said.
The largest increase in the number of domestic and foreign tourists is noted in Valga County by 38.2 and 25.8 percent respectively. “The result of Valga county is notable also by that in November there was no snow, and that means that the skiing season hasn’t begun yet, as opposed to, for example, the 2023 year, Eamets explained.
On Hiiumaa the number of inbound tourists increased by 25.8 percent, and the number of domestic tourists by 10.9 percent. “Of course, absolute numbers are very small compared with more large counties. In November Hiiumaa received 78 intourists, and Saaremaa – 1 600.” Eamets added that compared with the peak of the season in July the corresponding indicators are 8.4 percent and 13.5 percent.
