- In July this year, the BaseLinker Index value – an indicator measuring the comprehensive condition of Polish e-commerce – amounted to 143 points (the initial value from January 2022 is 100 points). A month ago, the reading was 133 points, and a year ago 123 points.
- The analysis of index data, based on the aggregated results of the 3,000 leading e-commerce companies in Poland, shows that their online sales in July 2024 were higher than a year ago by as much as 16.4%. This result is due to an 11.5% increase in the number of orders (y/y) and an increase in the average order value to PLN 202.3 (+4.4% y/y).
- Compared to June 2024, the July BaseLinker Index reading stands out with a sales increase of 7.4%. This is due to a 4.2% increase in the number of orders and a 3.2% increase in the average order value.
- Domestic sales year-on-year increased by 16.0%, while cross-border sales in the same period increased by 18.6%, and its share in sales of Polish sellers remains at around 17%.
The greatest increases were recorded in the following categories: health and beauty, automotive, and electronics.
In July 2024, the Polish e-commerce health indicator was 143 points. This index is based on sales data conducted by 3,000 companies trading via the BaseLinker platform, which are responsible for a significant part of the turnover of Polish e-commerce. The base value – at the level of 100 points, being the reference point for index readings in the following months, was set on the basis of sales data from January 2022. The latest BaseLinker Index is higher than a month ago (in June 2024 it was 133 points).
The data analyzed and aggregated in the BaseLinker Index show that in July 2024 (year-on-year), companies included in the index increased their sales by 16.4%, increasing the number of transactions by 11.5% during this period. The average value of their basket increased by 4.4% (year-on-year) and amounted to PLN 202.3.
– July online sales increased by 16.4% year-on-year. It was also one of the best months since the beginning of the BaseLinker Index survey. The growth trend in the share of cross-border sales is also continuing, with an 18.6% jump compared to last year. – For months, we have been observing growing activity of sellers from Poland. Their sales on our platforms in the Baltic States and Finland in July this year tripled year-on-year, which is evidence of both the entrepreneurship of Polish online stores and the growing demand for their products on these markets – adds Jakub Stefański, Head of Marketplace at PHH Group, an operator of e-commerce platforms in the Baltic States (Pigu.lt in Lithuania, Kaup24.ee in Estonia, 220.lv in Latvia and HobbyHall.fi in Finland).
