- One of the basic elements of IP is the proper selection of varieties and sowing certified seed material.
- From the 2024/2025 season in the case of winter crops, and from the 2025 season in the case of spring crops, lists of varieties recommended for sowing in the case of implementing the Integrated Production system are in force.
- Therefore, when choosing a variety for sowing in the IP system, the farmer should check whether the variety is on the COBORU list.
- If not, this may be the reason for not issuing an IP certificate decision.
The Integrated Plant Production (IP) ecoscheme is becoming more and more popular among farmers. This fact should not be surprising, because the incentive of approximately PLN 1,300/ha for meeting the requirements may be tempting, especially in the face of the poor profitability of many agricultural products.
What's new this year is that a list of varieties recommended for the IP system has been developed. COBORU is obliged to maintain it and update it on an ongoing basis before the new season.
The list has already been prepared, it is narrowed, but it still includes less stringent requirements than announced at the beginning of 2024. Initially, it was planned to leave only the varieties from the list of recommended varieties, but in the case of many species (mainly maize) it would significantly limit the choice .

First of all, varieties from LOZ
COBORU's position is still that, taking into account the assumptions of integrated plant production, the Central Center for Research on Cultivated Plant Varieties recommends, first of all, varieties included in the "List of varieties recommended for cultivation in individual voivodeships" for this management system. Their current list for individual species and voivodeships can be found on the COBORU website in the "Variety recommendation" tab.

Varieties from the entire National Register and some from the CCA were allowed
As COBORU also reported, taking into account certain restrictions on the selection, COBORU also allows for cultivation in the Integrated Production system other varieties entered in the National Register (KR) and some from the Community Catalog of Varieties of Agricultural Plants (CCA).
This means that they can be varieties from the National Register and CCA, provided that they have been tested in the PDO system in the last four years.
For the most important species of agricultural plants, the results of research on varieties entered into the KR, as well as the characteristics of new varieties registered in a given year, are published annually in the COBORU publishing series "Descriptive Lists of Varieties". From 2024, these publications will be expanded to include the results of CCA varieties that have been tested in the PDO system in the last four years.

KR, LOZ and a shortened CCA list
To sum up, a farmer should choose between varieties that:
• are in the National Register of Varieties,
• are included in the List of Recommended Varieties (LOZ),
• they come from CCA, but are on the COBORU list and have been tested by PDO.
Importantly, if a farmer wants to enter this system for the new season, he should hurry because the application to the IP system must be made 30 days before the planned sowing. In the case of rapeseed, there is little time left.
If he bought a variety from outside the Cooper's list, he has a small problem, because this fact may become a bone of contention during the on-site inspection or may not be accepted by the certification body that accepts applications from farmers.
