More cultivation area and more winemakers
The vine is now also grown commercially in Denmark, albeit in a very small area. As Danmarks Statistics recently reported, the number of wine-growing enterprises doubled between 2016 and 2022, from 71 to 146.
The vineyard area increased by 98 hectares to 173 hectares. Danish vineyards are mainly located east of the Great Belt. Since Denmark has been recognized by the EU as a wine country since 2000, Danish wine can be placed on the market.
Production in vineyards is increasing
According to statistics, Danish grape production in 2022 was 349 tons, compared to over 100 tons in 2016. For white wine, there are approximately 150 kilograms of grapes per hectoliter, and for red wine, 130 kilograms. If only white grapes were grown, the production planned for 2022 would result in wine production of over 2,300 hectoliters, and in the case of red wine it would be less than 2,700 hectoliters.
