According to the study, the number of applications for registration of trademarks in the Cyrillic alphabet in the first six months of 2024 amounted to more than 24.7 thousand, with the participation of applicants from 41 countries. Among the leading countries in terms of the number of applications submitted are Russia (24,266 applications), Belarus (115), China (59) and the USA (34).
Moreover, in the first six months of 2023, 19.9 thousand such applications were submitted, and in total over the past year – 35.7 thousand.
As explained by Alina Akinshina, General Director of Online Patent , the increase in the number of trademarks in the Cyrillic alphabet submitted for registration on behalf of Russian applicants logically reflects the increase in consumer confidence in domestic products.
“ More and more buyers, when choosing, give preference to goods of Russian origin, and the Cyrillic brand is the easiest way to intuitively indicate the country of production,” Akinshina noted.
