During work on deepening a pond in Sienna, in Lipsk County, Masovian Voivodeship, a 50-kilogram unexploded device was found. It turned out to be an aircraft bomb from World War II. Police officers from Lipsk, supported by firefighters, secured the area of the threatened zone and evacuated about 80 residents from nearby buildings.
The unexploded device was taken care of by military sappers called to the scene, who transported it to the training ground and neutralized it. Then the evacuated people were able to return to their homes.
"It should be remembered that each time an object resembling an unexploded device is discovered, the nearest police unit should be contacted immediately. Due to the danger that these dangerous finds may pose, under no circumstances should they be touched or moved – this may pose a risk of explosion!" – the police warn.
