While the candidate's camp denied these ideas at the time, his current statement is consistent with their central thesis: Trump should be consulted on a decision on interest rates when he returns to the White House, and the Fed's proposals for bank regulation should be submitted to the administration for consideration.
The head of the Fed and six members of the Board of the American Central Bank are appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the Senate. The current head of the American Federal Reserve Bank, Jerome Powell, who was appointed by Donald Trump, will hold this position until 2026, and he can serve on the board of the central bank until 2028.
