The current challenge the government must face is – according to Czesław Siekierski – the problem of leases and regulating the flow of land in Poland. In the long term, the greatest challenge will be "reconciling tradition with modernity" in Polish agriculture, also in the context of European agricultural policy.
The minister admitted in an interview with Farmer.pl that it was difficult for Poland to take advantage of all the opportunities created by Poland's accession to the EU and 20 years of presence in the Community, including: due to the great diversity and fragmentation of our farms.
Today, another big problem is – not only in Poland – the decline in the number of pigs, which makes it impossible to develop and level the "grain hill".
