Coolblue continues German expansion, opens in Frankfurt

Coolblue means business in Germany: the retailer has opened its first German shop outside the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Another new store, in Dortmund, should put Coolblue further on its path to “becoming a German company”.

Stores increase online sales

Coolblue has opened a store in Frankfurt am Main, in the German state of Hesse. It is Coolblue’s first German store outside the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, where the company launched at the end of 2021 and where a shop will also open soon in Dortmund. The retailer is investing 150 million euros to open 36 shops and nine delivery depots in Germany.

Since this month, Coolblue has had a new country manager for Germany: Urs Möller told e-tailment magazine that physical shops play an important role for the retailer, which originally started as a pure player. Online sales rise in regions where the company has a shop, because customers appreciate having a point of contact. With a Net Promoter Score of over 80, Coolblue is already doing better in Germany than in the Netherlands and Belgium, Möller added.

Coolblue founder and CEO Pieter Zwart will deliver an inspiring and surprising at RetailDetail Night, RetailDetail’s festive year-end event, in Antwerp on 21 November. Tickets can be ordered using the button below
