The Constitutional Commission and the Finance Committee of the Riigikogu decided on Monday to propose to the full parliament not to re-adopt unchanged the Motor Vehicle Tax Act, which was not promulgated by the President.

According to the chairman of the constitutional commission, Hendrik Johannes Terras, the commission found that the law cannot be re-adopted unchanged. “The President has taken the position that the provisions of the law do not comply with the principle of equal treatment. We consider his point of view to be valid and believe that the law needs to be changed,” he said.
