Coffees Douwe Egberts disappear from shelves supermarkets

Kawy Douwe Egberts znikają z półek supermarketów

Difficult negotiations on price have caused Douwe Egberts to withdraw part of its products from the Belgian network Delhaize. “We failed to achieve an agreement” – the retailer admitted.

“Because of the difficulties in negotiations with the supplier, some products are currently not available” – inform cards placed in the alley with coffee in Delhaize stores.

“At the end of each year we negotiate prices for the next year, however this time we have not succeeded in reaching an agreement with Jacobs Douwe Egberts” – said a spokesperson of the network, Roel Dekelver, in conversation with the Belgian journal Het Nieuwsblad.

Delhaize concedes, that price increases are understandable, but only if they are proportional. “If other brands of coffee do not experience such drastic increases in prices, we consider this to be unjustified. In negotiations Douwe Egberts decided about two weeks ago to stop supplies to our stores” – Dekelver added.

Problems with supplies of coffee

Similar difficulties with Douwe Egberts had already been existing competitive network Colruyt, which at the end of last year stopped ordering some types of coffee from that manufacturer. Now however the situation appears to be toward positive resolution. “The issue is complicated, but we assume that allDouweEgbertsproductswill soonreturntoourstores.”-saidacompanyspokeswomanHannePoppe.
