Less grain than in 2023
This would be significantly lower than the previous forecast of 296 million tonnes and less than the 294.2 million tonnes harvested in 2023. Rain and lack of sunshine in spring significantly affected winter crop production in Western Europe, primarily in France and Germany. This contributed to smaller sowings that resulted from excessively wet conditions in autumn 2023. Hot, dry weather during pollination affected spring crop yields in southeastern Europe.
