"Sales of poultry products have increased by almost two percent compared to the same period last year, while sales of pork have decreased by almost seven percent," said Simmo Kruustük, chairman of the board of Nõo Lihatööstus.

On the one hand, the desire for healthy eating plays a role here, and on the other, price.

"Price alone did not determine the choice, because the consumer opted for healthy product groups even where the price per kilogram was slightly higher – for example, in the case of grilled poultry sausages," said Krustyuk. "We see that consumption has become smaller, but more conscious. We predicted this market development in advance and were able to plan our choice of summer products quite accurately. However, now the meat industry is approaching winter, and we think that the importance of pork will increase again."
