Car-sharing service provider Carguru has acquired electric car rental startup OX Drive, Carguru told Delfi. As a result of the deal, Carguru has expanded its fleet with more than 200 new electric cars, including models from Tesla and Audi. They can now be booked and used for trips only through the Carguru mobile app. Carguru has been offering car-sharing services since 2017. With the addition of OX Drive, Carguru is expanding its offering by adding an even more eco-friendly option. "Our customers have long been asking us when Tesla and other electric cars will appear in our fleet. We always make sure that our customers receive the best service and opportunities, so the acquisition of OX Drive was a logical step in our development," said Carguru founder Vladimir Reskais. " OX Drive customers have driven almost 4 million kilometers so far. " OX Drive has been an advocate for green and sustainable solutions from the very beginning, setting a very ambitious goal – to change mobility habits in Latvia with the best solutions offered by the global electric vehicle industry. Today, looking back at what has been achieved, we can confidently say that electric cars are a great proposition in the field of car sharing, and such a service is here to stay. We are confident that together with Carguru we will be able to ensure the transition to more sustainable mobility with much greater strength, efficiency and quality. I am glad that the values of Carguru and OX Drive coincide, and that OX Drive will continue its path with another strong partner," explained Egija Gailuma, co-founder of the OX Drive platform. Previously, the largest shareholder of OX Drive was Eleving Group. The integration of OX Drive into Carguru's operations will be completed by August 30. All OX Drive cars will henceforth be available only through the Carguru app. After the merger, both companies will continue to be led by Reskais.
