- For years, in Polish trade, cash handling automation was limited to counters and sorters for banknotes and coins. Recently, cash deposit machines have been increasingly used, especially for banknotes, which work well in small branches.
- The most advanced solutions, such as banknote and coin recyclers, are still rarely used. In the world, the market for these devices is growing the fastest in the retail sector. In total, several hundred thousand recyclers and cash deposit machines have already been installed, and several dozen thousand new devices are added every year.
In Poland, recyclers are commonly used in ATMs, enabling deposits and withdrawals of previously deposited banknotes. In retail, this trend is just beginning.
Recyclers in retail chains. What benefits
The benefits of using recyclers in the back office are already visible in several large retail chains in Poland, where almost 100 banknote and coin recycling sets have been installed. The most important advantages include shortening the working time of cashiers and managers, which in one supermarket resulted in savings of 8.33 hours per month for the cashier and 51.58 hours for the manager.
Thanks to recyclers, stores can almost completely eliminate the purchase of cashier benefits, which brings additional savings. Lower cash conversion costs, reduced losses related to counterfeiting and better reporting are other benefits of their use.
The decision to install recyclers brings savings of several thousand zlotys per month in the largest stores and several thousand in smaller ones. Previous implementations in retail chains confirm that the investment brings positive results.
We are excited about the introduction of this solution – said Leszek Chasikowski, representative of the coin recycler manufacturer PPH, daughters and sons.
