French chain Carrefour has launched in France a new loyalty program under the name Club Carrefour, writes Retail Detail. Her main goal is to attract half a million new participants into the company’s stores with discounts and improved conditions for shopping to attract half a million new participants into the company’s stores.

In the present moment the Carrefour company in domestic market 14 millions of loyalty cardholders, but in 2024 year only it lost 150 thousand of them. The loss of customers was partly provoked by the new law, which restricted discounts on food, hygiene and beauty products. In addition, in the past, the retailer used different mechanisms of loyalty to customers in depending on the format of the store: for example, cards with a discount of 10% on fruits and vegetables in supermarkets, but could not use it in hypermarkets or online.

In the new loyalty program these “unnecessary complications” will be removed, the card, according to a retailer spokesperson, will become “simple, unique and generous”. Besides general discount of 10 or 15%, customers will be able to earn additional points and discount coupons with games and monthly tasks. In addition, card owners can also accumulate points for their local amateur sports club, by purchasing fruits and vegetables.

According to Director of Marketing Carrefour Caroline Dacier,”a customer with card spends an average 52 euros per visit, which is three times more than a customer without a card.”
