Thus, the number of applications in January-June increased by 32% year-on-year, the volume of actual transportation by 30%. Against the background of growing demand, the cost of auto delivery from China to the central part of Russia has increased by more than 20% since May to $10,000–12,500 for a 20-ton truck.

In the first half of 2024, Russian international road carriers operated more than 60,000 flights with cargo between Russia and China – almost 1.5 times more compared to the corresponding period in 2023, said Vadim, director of the regional development department of the Association of International Road Carriers (ASMAP). Filchenkov . The number of applications for auto delivery of goods from other countries in the second quarter increased by 20% year-on-year, and in the first half of the year by 17%, according to data from the freight exchange Ati.su.

The general director of the logistics company Trasko, Evgeniy Shakalida , also speaks about the increase in the number of applications for the transportation of goods from China to Russia in the first half of the year. He did not name the exact dynamics. The increase in transportation from China by truck was caused by the ongoing shortage of containers at sea and land terminals in China for sending them by rail to Russia, the interlocutor specified.

There is currently a shortage of free containers on the railways in China, as a result of which the market is forced to use an alternative delivery method – truck transport. The container shortage is caused by a mismatch in import and export volumes between countries. In addition, restrictions on trade turnover arise due to difficulties in making payments between the Russian Federation and the PRC, as well as a reduction in positions for transportation, as a result of which certain goods cannot be transported across the border at all.

In January-June 2024, trade turnover between Russia and China increased year-on-year by 1.8% to $116.9 billion, according to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China. Imports from China decreased by 0.8% to $51.66 billion, exports to China increased by 3.9% to $65.2 billion.
