I fell in love with the Boots Advantage card the first time I used my points to buy a lipstick. No really, it’s true!
I had been to the rather swish media launch (following fairly soon after Tesco launched its ground breaking Clubcard, and the Sainsbury’s CEO said he would never follow suit with glorified green shield stamps (shortly before he did).
These were the pioneering days of loyalty, when everyone thought the bubble would burst any day, and we would all go back to shopping how it was, but it didn’t happen. Loyalty stayed, and shopping has been more fun because of it.
