Although blueberries have "American" in their name, they have definitely become a Polish specialty. Warmian-Masurian plantations tolerated spring frosts well. Now they please the eyes of growers and the palates of gourmets. The blueberry season is in full swing. Fruit straight from the bush should be available at least until the end of September. In Januszków near Nidzica, twelve-year-old bushes of the late "Aurora" variety are bearing fruit like never before. Appropriate treatments protected them from the recent storms. For now, early varieties such as 'Duke' are being harvested. According to data from the Polish Economic Institute, a year ago, Poland was second in the European Union after Spain in terms of export volume of these fruits, and sixth in the world. Back in 2013, we exported 13,000. tons of blueberries, in 2022 we reached 64 thousand. tone. Due to its health properties, blueberries have been called a "superfruit".
