BLIK – payment method in e-commerce

BLIK has become known in Poland as a payment method that allows for safe e-commerce transactions thanks to its availability in bank mobile applications. BLIK payments are simple and fast for every user. Soon, thanks to the extension of cooperation between Tatra banka and BLIK SK, users of the Tatra banka VIAMO application will gain access to this modern payment method in Slovak online stores.

– For many years, the Tatra banka VIAMO application has provided customers with a simple and practical option to send payments to people, companies and various organizations. I see the new BLIK payment function as a welcome extension of payment methods. This is a breakthrough solution thanks to which our customers can pay for online purchases even easier than before. Of course, while maintaining a high level of security, says Lukáš Mochňák, director of the mobile applications department at Tatra banka.

Development of BLIK in Slovakia

It is worth recalling that in May 2023, Polski Standard Płatności (PSP), the operator of the BLIK system in Poland, finalized the strategic purchase of the Slovak company VIAMO, which was transformed into BLIK SK. Thanks to this, the company's offer has been enriched with a modern BLIK payment solution.

– Cooperation with Tatra banka is an important stage for further activities on the Slovak market and more broadly in Europe. The BLIK offer, introduced in Slovakia, is a scalable solution throughout the euro zone. Implementation work is currently underway with other market participants to jointly achieve our ambitious goals – emphasizes Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, president of the management board at Polski Standard Płatności, the BLIK operator.

BLIK has been very popular among customers of Polish banks for years. This is confirmed by impressive transaction data. In the first quarter of 2024 alone, over half a billion transactions were completed in Poland using it, every second of which took place in the e-commerce channel. At the end of March this year over 16 million users actively used the solution.
