Mobile operator SIA Bite Latvija plans to open offices in Jelgava and Rezekne in early autumn, creating 280 new jobs, the company reported. 150 jobs will appear in Rezekne, and almost 130 in Jelgava. Recruitment of new employees has already begun, vacancy announcements have been posted on the company's home page. Starting in the spring of 2025, the company’s customer service call center will operate only in these cities. The company notes that the merger of Bite Latvija and the telecommunications company Baltcom on July 1 not only gave new impetus to the growth and development of the business, but also made it possible to create a new client base of almost 140,000 people, bringing the total number of Bite Latvija clients to more than 400,000. For these goals, it is necessary to create a strong call center, the mobile operator emphasizes. "Taking into account the great development potential of large regions, the workforce available outside of Riga and the challenges of attracting it to the capital, Bite Latvija decided to expand in the regions and open new offices in Rezekne and Jelgava. Over time, these two large cities have great potential to become the epicenter for sales and customer service teams,” note representatives of Bite Latvija. "It is no secret that most of the branches of Latvian and international companies operate in Riga. This means that the competition for attracting labor in the capital is enormous, and continues to grow. This forced Bite to reconsider its strategic development in order to reduce the impact of changes in the labor market in the coming years for business,” comments CEO Arun Mickiewicz. As reported, on July 1, the merger of two Bite group companies – Baltcom and Bite Latvija – was completed, and now all previous services of Baltcom will continue to be provided by Bite Latvija. The mobile operator has at its disposal a wide optical Internet network, which is already available to more than 400,000 households throughout Latvia. Bite Latvija, as a result of a merger with Baltcom, becomes a mobile operator, owning not only a 4G/5G mobile network, television and Data Centers created to host client equipment, but also a state-scale optical infrastructure designed to connect end customers and households. Baltcom clients were promptly informed that as a result of the merger of companies, neither prices nor the range of services would change. As reported, Bite Latvija's turnover in 2022 amounted to 149.824 million euros, which is 11.3% more than a year earlier, and the company's profit increased by 1.1% and amounted to 22.252 million euros. The company's financial results for 2023 are not yet available.
