Almost half a year without a bird flu outbreak
Almost half a year has passed since the last HPAI outbreak was detected. The previous occurrence of the disease on the farm was confirmed in early March. In early April, the Chief Veterinary Officer reported that a declaration had been submitted to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) that Poland had regained the status of a country free from highly pathogenic avian influenza.

Bird flu strikes again
According to information posted on the website of the Chief Veterinary Inspectorate, the 26th HPAI outbreak in Poland this year was confirmed on 22 August 2024 on a commercial farm in Chociule, Świebodzin commune, Świebodzin district, Lubuskie province. The farm kept 14,730 slaughter turkeys.
The H5N1 subtype of avian influenza virus was detected in this outbreak.
The total number of poultry in outbreaks currently amounts to 581,324 (as of 26/08/2024).
