A retail park with Biedronka being built in Nowa Ruda
This is another step in implementing Biedronka's mission as a socially responsible company. For many customers of Biedronka stores, self-service checkouts mean quick and efficient shopping, and their popularity is constantly growing. Employees in a new position introduced in Biedronka stores will provide invaluable support to people using this form of shopping. Self-service checkout assistants will help customers, among others: in the efficient operation of the self-service checkout, they will answer questions about loyalty programs, prices and location of products, and they will check the age of customers in the case of purchasing products that require proof of age. The new position is the position best adapted to the needs of employees with disabilities in Biedronka stores.
– As the largest employer in Poland and a signatory of the Diversity Charter, we make constant efforts to build an open, diverse and fair work environment in which everyone can develop and pursue their professional career. Almost 1,000 people with disabilities already work in the Biedronka team, and we are taking further steps to achieve our goal of supporting professional activation of people with difficult access to the labor market. The new position in our stores, which takes into account the needs of people with disabilities, offers additional professional opportunities for this group, and at the same time will be a great support for the teams in our stores and will allow us to improve customer service standards – comments Paweł Stolecki, Operations Director at the Biedronka chain.
The first self-service checkout assistants have already appeared in Biedronka stores in the Kraków and Warsaw regions. In the coming months, people will be gradually recruited in additional locations throughout Poland. By the end of the year, the company plans to employ approximately 800 people in the new position.
