The charging station that has just been launched in Dziwnów, like other Powerdot devices located at Biedronka stores, has a total power of 120 kW and has three connectors (CCS, ChaDeMo and AC). A few days earlier, the infrastructure for electric cars was put into use in another holiday resort – Lądek Zdrój. Tourist towns where you can already charge an electric car while shopping at a Biedronka store include: Gniezno, Drawski Młyn, Bochotnica near Nałęczów, Kraków, Gdańsk, Częstochowa, Lidzbark Warmiński, Lublin and Tuchola, and soon Władysławowo, Ustrzyki Dolne and for those vacationing in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains – Kielce will join this list.
Thanks to such an extensive network of devices, those returning from vacation can charge their cars right next to their vacation spot and then top up their batteries in many places along the way.
Traveling without limits
We observe that, in addition to shopping at the best prices, our customers are increasingly using other services available right next to Biedronka stores, such as parcel machines or car charging stations. We are always close to our customers and their needs, which is why our charging stations are built not only in large cities, but also in smaller towns, including holiday resorts. We make sure that people on holiday and travelling around Poland by electric car can move around without stress about the range of their cars, and at the same time use the time when the vehicle is charging to do some shopping, comments Paweł Stolecki, Operations Director and Member of the Management Board of the Biedronka chain
630 connections already launched
So far, almost 400 Powerdot stations have been built in Biedronka car parks, with over 1,100 connectors, of which 630 connectors have already been put into use (in 210 locations).
Our stations are distinguished by their 120 kW power, which allows you to charge a medium-sized battery in about 20 minutes. You can pay for the charging service by payment card, no prior registration is required, thanks to which the devices are available to everyone, without time-consuming formalities. Payments can also be made by scanning a QR code or using roaming, adds Grigoriy Grigoriev, General Director of Powerdot in Poland
Schedule update
At the time of the project announcement in July 2023, Powerdot had 600 agreements with energy companies. These agreements ensure the execution of all planned connections, with deadlines for completion no later than 2024.
According to the current project schedule, 500 facilities will be built by the end of 2024, of which 300-400 will be put into use. The difference between the number of built and installed devices results from the extended waiting times for activities on the part of energy companies, i.e. the installation of meters and the application of voltage.
Delays in the construction of power supply points are caused by delays in launching connection procedures in energy companies, including the necessary tender procedures. Another reason for delays in the construction of connections is a significant reduction in throughput in energy companies, resulting from high demand for new power supply points (RES, construction, private and public e-mobility). Despite these challenges, a new station is opened in Biedronka parking lots every working day.
