According to BAA data, total sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles stood at 4,763 units in July 2024, more than 2.5 times more than in July last year. July sales figures are a record high for the last three years.
Total sales for 7 months of this year amounted to 25,071 new cars and have already almost reached the total figures obtained for the entire 2023.
In recent months, strict restrictions have begun to apply on the import of cars into Belarus with an engine capacity of more than 1.5 liters, hybrids and electric vehicles. This ban has significantly complicated the import of vehicles by individuals, including used cars.
Understanding the current situation, official BAA dealers are trying to saturate the market with new affordable cars, which is already evident from the sales results of the last month. This trend will intensify and, subject to the current conditions for production and import in our country, monthly sales of new cars in Belarus could reach 9,000 units.
It is also worth noting the almost tenfold increase in sales of electric vehicles – over 7 months, the number of electric cars sold amounted to 1,261 units. In addition to the emergence of new models, a significant factor that has a positive impact on sales in this segment is the availability of electric vehicle models with an increased power reserve in the offers of official dealers.
It is this circumstance that allows many motorists who doubt the purchase of an electric car to take the first step and switch to their new electric car, which has a positive effect on the load on the infrastructure of electric filling stations being developed in Belarus.
