The Schwarz Group emphasizes that it wants to use recycled baskets in all countries where the Lidl and Kaufland chains operate. On a country-by-country basis, the two companies are expected to save 390.62 tonnes of new plastic per year, equating to an estimated saving of 697.53 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year.
Lidl and Kaufland will exchange baskets and shopping carts
The so-called "hand baskets" will consist of 75 percent. from PreZero recyclate, 80% wheeled bins and 87% XXL wheeled bins.
Existing shopping baskets will be replaced successively in order to use the remaining intact baskets for as long as possible.
