The German market sees stabilization of fattening pig prices for the second week in a row. Each July session of the ISW stock exchange ended with maintaining the price of EUR 2.17 per kilogram. After the collapse at the beginning of July, VEZG also decided last week to maintain the current rate. Unfortunately, the stabilization on the German market – which is often cited by domestic processors – did not protect us from price reductions for fattened pigs in Poland.
Prices of fattening pigs in Poland
As our today's survey shows, you can hardly look for a processor who is able to offer breeders more than PLN 9 net per kilogram of class E pig. Prices below this limit prevail. The average purchase price is currently PLN 8.88, which is 10 groszy less than a week ago. Prices range from PLN 8.60 to PLN 9.00 net per kilogram.

We noted a similar correction in the prices of fattened pigs in live weight. Here, over the course of a week, the average purchase price decreased by 8 groszy. Livestock is currently valued from PLN 6.40 to PLN 7.30 net per kilogram, while the average purchase price is PLN 6.83 net per kilogram.
Let's get ready for discounts
Experts agree that these may be the last weeks of relatively good economic conditions on the fattening pig market. They estimate that prices may go down already in the fall. They justify this opinion with the recovering pig production in the EU and problems with exports.
