It turned out that the majority intend to keep their expenses for the new school year to 20 thousand rubles, with clothing and footwear being the main expense item. For more than half of the parents, shopping is the most troublesome part of getting ready for school.

Most Russians (62%) plan to spend up to 20 thousand rubles to prepare one child for the new school year. Of these, 33% expect to spend between 10 and 20 thousand rubles, 24% – between 5 and 10 thousand rubles, and 6% want to stay within the amount of up to 5 thousand rubles.

Parents plan to spend most of their planned budget on clothes and shoes — 84% of respondents answered this way. It is not surprising, because children grow up quickly and do not always wear things neatly, so school uniforms often need to be updated. 58% plan to spend money on stationery — notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, etc. Small stationery often gets lost and broken, and notebooks for the next school year, as a rule, need new ones.

47% plan to update their child's backpack or bag, and 44% – to buy new textbooks and workbooks. 29% are going to buy books and other additional educational materials. And 14% of parents will additionally spend money on a new gadget – a computer, tablet, smartphone or smartwatch, which can also be useful for modern children at school.

Russians mainly buy school supplies in specialized offline stores (63%) and/or order online (57%). 42% of respondents visit departments with school supplies in supermarkets and hypermarkets, and a quarter (24%) shop at markets and fairs.

At the same time, the majority (54%) of respondents agree that finding and buying the necessary things for school is the most troublesome part of preparing for the new school year. A third (36%) of Russians find it difficult to draw up and stick to a budget for preparations, and this worries mothers more often than fathers (39% versus 32%). And a quarter (27%) have difficulty choosing the right products – for example, an orthopedic backpack or stationery made from safe materials – this is where fathers have a harder time (32% versus 24% of mothers). 22% are already worried about the lack of time for preparation. The same number of respondents are worried about the psychological state of their child.

Most parents intend to support their children and their motivation to study. Thus, 62% regularly remind that education is very important for a future career and help with career guidance. Mothers do this more often than fathers (67% versus 54%).

At the same time, parents come up with different ways to reward schoolchildren for successful studies – mainly fathers do this. 30% motivate children with pocket money, 26% promise to take them to entertainment places – game rooms, cinema, zoos, etc. 25% plan a joint vacation or a trip to camp as an incentive, and 22% – buy what the child wants. Also, 20% allow spending more time on the computer for good grades, and 17% give more sweets.
