Auchan hypermarkets

The first Auchan hypermarket in Poland was opened in 1996 in Piaseczno near Warsaw, where the company's headquarters is located. Auchan hypermarkets have an area of ​​5,500-19,000 sq m. In this format, customers will find the widest range of products offered, even over 40,000 items, combining quality and affordable prices.

Auchan supermarkets

The first Auchan Supermarket was opened in 2017 in Konstancin near Warsaw. The store is a continuation of the transformation towards the introduction of various formats around the Auchan brand. Auchan supermarkets have an area of ​​700-2,500 sq m. and offer customers, among others: fresh fish market, Pipkarnia with a range of bread baked on site, confectionery shop with the possibility of ordering a cake or pastry from the catalog offer, luz bazaar section with a wide selection of food products sold by weight, and a traditional cold meats market.

This year, the franchise supermarket in Galeria Korona in Kielce was closed.

Local stores Moje Auchan

Another store concept – MojeAuchan, was also established in 2017 in the Bielany district of Warsaw, at Andersena Street. These are typical local stores with an area of ​​450-700 sq m, which locally meet all the basic needs of customers.

In 2019, the company announced that it would like to have 300 franchise stores, half of which would operate under the Moje Auchan brand. In 2023, only 5 franchise stores were launched. The company is therefore focusing on priorities other than quantitative development.

Easy Auchan at BP stations

In turn, Easy Auchan, created in 2020, is a 24-hour store format at BP stations, meeting the needs of customers who are on the road or need to do quick shopping 7 days a week. Easy Auchan offers practical and convenient shopping within the convenience concept.

The company declares that it wants to have 120 Easy Auchan stores by the end of 2025.

Maintenance-free Auchan GO

In 2023, the chain launched a modern, fully maintenance-free Auchan GO store, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The advanced solutions based on artificial intelligence technology used in the store were provided by the strategic partner of the project – Trigo.

Currently, only one Auchan Go point is operational. In a few years, according to the network's announcements, it will have 40 of them.

Auchan online store

Auchan in April this year launched a new version of the online store. A more friendly interface, an expanded assortment, increased flexibility in delivery management and the ability to use the Skarbonka loyalty program – these are some of the changes that Auchan customers can count on when shopping online. The implementation of the new version of the purchasing platform is the first stage of activities planned under Auchan's partnership agreement with the British company Ocado – one of the leaders in the automation and robotization of logistics for e-grocery.

In the next stage, an ultra-modern, robotic distribution center will be launched, which will support customer service thanks to unique automation systems and the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning as part of the proprietary Ocado Smart Platform solutions.

Services in Auchan stores

Auchan has also released a new Scan&GO service. This innovative solution allows customers to independently scan the products they have selected with their phones, and be able to track the value of their basket on an ongoing basis. Another solution was the introduction of an electronic price label system that allows for real-time updating of information on labels with a database. in the cash register system.

In 2023, the retailer introduced the Smartway platform to 23 stores – an intelligent solution that allows you to optimize the management processes of products with a short shelf life. Thanks to the use of artificial intelligence technology, Smartway supports the reduction of food waste by up to 80%, which allows for significant avoidance of CO2 emissions. From 2024, Smartway will be available in all Auchan stores.

Auchan Polska is also implementing the RELEX Solutions platform for optimizing supply chain planning as an important element of supporting network sales in the omnichannel system.

Auchan and Allegro cooperation

Responding to customer needs, the retailer introduced the possibility of handling shipments from Allegro in Auchan stores. The new service was introduced in cooperation with the technology provider, Smart Points.

Alexandre Edmond Saussard became the president of Auchan Polska, who took over as general director in April 2023, replacing Gerrard Gallet.

Moreover, in September 2023, Witold Sowiński took up the position of franchising director at Auchan Retail Polska. He will be responsible for the further development of the franchise network, in line with the company's strategy.

Auchan and Intermarche Alliance

To strengthen their negotiating position, the Auchan Polska and Intermarché retail chains will create a long-term purchasing alliance on our market. The companies submitted three applications to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection this year. Retailers want to buy their own, national and international brand products together. The second proposal concerns the possibility of jointly purchasing goods and services for the operation of the Intermarche and Auchan networks. The third one is negotiating contracts for the marketing and promotion of food products sold to the ITME and Auchan Groups by international suppliers.

Auchan results in 2023

In 2023, Auchan Polska recorded an increase in revenues by less than 3%, exceeding PLN 11,472 million. The chain closed the year with a net profit of PLN 73 million, and the operating profit of the company amounted to PLN 215 million.

In 2023, the network contributed nearly PLN 905 million to the Polish budget in the form of taxes and levies.

The average employment in 2023 is 17,381 employees, including 14,176 in blue-collar positions (18,015 employees in 2022).
